Your water meter is read like a car odometer; from left to right, the sweep hand is like a clock's second hand: one complete revolution equals one cubic foot. Testing for Leaks
A leaky faucet is pretty obvious, but hidden leaks (in the toilet or outside in your landscaping) can waste a large amount of water.

To check for leaks, perform the following procedure:

1. Take a reading of your water meter.
2. Wait one hour, making sure no one uses any water. This includes irrigation, your water heater, and other source beyond taps and toilets.
3. Check the reading on the water meter again.
   If the reading has changed, you've got at least one leak.
4. Call our customer service hotline: 1-877-335-6764 to request a meter test or leak investigation.
